Biblical Stewardship Practices in Difficult Times
Economic Downturn + Recession...has equaled nothing but frustration, unemployment and pain/suffering for millions of Americans across this great nation and especially here in Chicago. Families are in search of answers. As Pastors you have been given the awesome responsibility to encourage and provide solid biblical counsel to those under your shepherding care during difficult times like we’re experiencing today. It is for that reason, we have invited a dear brother, Dick Towner, to facilitate a dialogue with us and focus on some biblical stewardship practices and principles that we all could use in blessing and coaching our congregations during these challenging economic times.

Dick Towner
Executive Director, Good $ense Ministry

In 1976 God called Dick Towner out of the marketplace to serve as Minister of Administration at College Hill Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati. He joined the staff of Willow Creek Church in 1992 serving as Director of Finance and Director of the Good Sense Ministry. In 2000 he joined the Willow Creek Association and founded the Good $ense Stewardship Movement, which he serves as Executive Director. Its mission is to empower church leaders to implement biblically based stewardship ministries within the local church.

For over 40 years Dick has had a passion to teach and encourage biblical stewardship because of the deep significance it plays in a person’s spiritual development and relationship to God. He has written and spoken extensively about stewardship and has  served on the board of the Christian Stewardship Association.

Dick often says that the really important things about him can be summarized in three numbers; 47, 3 and 11 - married to Sibyl for 47 years, 3 sons (one through adoption in love) and 11 grandchildren.
