Maxine Washington
Pastor, Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Chur
Since December of 2000, the Reverend Doctor Maxine M. Washington has been the Senior Pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church on the Chicago's Westside. Previously, she has served as an Associate to the Bishop of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America with responsibilities in Global Missions, Education, Worship, Social Justice and Multicultural Ministries. She also served for three years on the Commission for Multicultural Ministries as Associate Director - Education for Ministry. In addition, Pastor Washington has served on the pastoral staff of Holy Family Lutheran Church, Grace Lutheran Church, and New Hope Lutheran Church. Pastor Washington completed both her seminary training and her Doctoral Degree at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.
